Why Am I Getting Stomach Cramps?

If your body were to talk, what would it say to you?

A friend recently found out what her body was telling her… with a little help from me. Here is what happened.

She was on a detox program and felt great! But then something started to go wrong. She experienced stomach cramps and felt queasy after she ate anything. So she asked me for help. She wanted to know what happened.

Her detox program comprised of juicing vegetables and abstaining from processed foods. She ate light and avoided alcohol. She even refrained from drinking coffee and drank plenty of purified water instead. A healthy detox program like that should make her feel great, right?

Well, it did at first. But then my friend began to experience stomach problems. So I tested her to help identify possible issues.

The Evaluation

The first thing I check for is an emotional aspect to the problem. Our emotions play such an important role in our health. If there is an emotional issue involved, it is important to deal with that first.

To find an emotional element to her problem, I turned to flower essences called Bach Flowers. There are over 30 unique remedies that are used to detox you of an emotion.

She resonated with a Bach Flower called Oak.

Oak is the Bach Flower used for when you are feeling so exhausted, but you carry on. She was struggling with something in her life that brought her to the point of exhaustion. But she would not take a break and let herself rest.

Exhausted bodies don’t work as they should. When your system doesn’t have the energy to do its job, it has to let something go.

Food Sensitivities

The next thing I identified was that she had developed a sensitivity to nuts and seeds. I didn’t know it, but she had been adding nuts and seeds to her morning smoothie ritual. This is an excellent way to add protein to your diet. But for some reason, she developed a food sensitivity that was causing digestive issues.

So what began as a healthy smoothie, became unhealthy once she developed the sensitivity. That’s when her cramping and stomach aches started.

You don’t have to be born with an allergy. Sensitivities to certain foods can spring up at any time from nowhere. When I tell people they are sensitive to a particular food, they often don’t believe me at first. They never had problems with it before why would they have it now?

Mixed Signals

But there are many reasons sensitivities to foods can suddenly appear. One of the main reasons for them to develop out of the blue is when signals get crossed in your brain.

The brain is the control center of our bodies. It’s responsible for sending and receiving signals to other parts of our bodies. These messages help our systems function they like should.

For example, you are out on your morning run. Your brain signals your heart to pump blood faster because you need more oxygen. This enables you to keep on moving!

Let’s look at another scenario. You sit down to eat dinner. Your brain receives a message that food has arrived. It then sends out signals to start the flow of digestive juices to process your food.

But sometimes these signals get mixed up. Your brain sends out multiple messages and your body responds. It gets the signals crossed with the different events.

Let me give you an example.

A mother is talking to her son on the phone while eating an orange. During the conversation, she hears a gunshot. The phone goes dead. She panics. All she can think of is something terrible has happened to her son which causes her stress.

When she calls him back, he doesn’t answer.

Later she finds out her son is fine. When they were talking on the phone, her son heard a loud bang and ran to see what it was. They got disconnected.

Remember the orange she was eating while on the phone? Her brain was sending out multiple signals at once. One was telling her body to digest the orange, another signal was helping her deal with the stress of being disconnected from her son.

Now when she eats an orange, her body doesn’t like it since it was so stressful last time. From that point forward, her brain associates ORANGES with STRESS.

These mixed signals may have occurred with my friend. Maybe she ate some bad nuts, and her body was identifying them as being toxic. Or maybe it was just too many nuts for her body to handle. Her system became overworked trying to absorb so many nuts.

Whatever the reason, her body developed a sensitivity to them, and she felt it.

My Recommendation

I told her the best thing for her was to lay off the nuts for awhile and let her body adjust. I suggested she also try some energy work such as taking Bach Flowers. This would help her situation as well.

She abstained from nuts for a while and took the Bach Flower I suggested, and the problem resolved itself.

Remember our bodies have amazing healing capabilities. We have to remove the barriers so we can heal. In this case, the body was saying the nuts were toxic. That’s why the stomach cramps appeared. By removing the nuts from her diet, she was able to heal.
