How to Boost Your Healing Power: 8 Ways To Begin

In Healing You, Mindful Healing by carolynhLeave a Comment

Your doctor has just informed you that you have a serious illness. The unexpected diagnosis fills your head with frightening thoughts. You are scared. You feel helpless. But don’t worry, there are ways to boost your healing power.

I once felt this way when my doctor told me I had Rheumatoid Arthritis. But I decided I wasn’t going to be scared, and that I was not helpless. I took the initiative to self-heal by strengthening my healing ability.

If you do not want to leave your healing in the hands of others, it will take some effort on your part. But, you do have control. There are things you can do right now to help move the healing process along. What better time to begin than right now?

The first step is the most obvious. Find a good doctor and other healthcare professionals that are compassionate and who support you. If this is your current doctor, then you are lucky. Be sure you feel comfortable speaking openly with them and that you aren’t afraid to ask lots of questions.

But once you have your support team in place, then what? Do you just sit back and let them take over your medical needs and determine your outcome? Heck No!

Here are eight ways you can get started on your healing journey.

8 Ways To Boost Your Healing Power

How You Look At Healing

1. Change The Way You Look At Healing

It can be frightening when diagnosed with a serious illness. The fear can be intense and overwhelming. The first step is to modify the way you view your illness. Think of it as your wake-up call. Try to think of your diagnosis as a blessing. Take your disease and turn it into a something positive by changing your life. Use it as your marching orders to clean up your life in some way.

Be thankful you are given a chance to change something in your life that caused this disease. Accepting it as your wake up call will help you remain in a positive frame of mind for healing. View it as an opportunity to fix what is broken in your body.

2. Clean Up Your Diet

Take a good look at your diet and what you are eating. Are you eating a lot of processed foods? Do you overcook your foods? Can’t stay away from the sugar? I refer to all of these as dead foods. They have no life in them. They are so hard to metabolize; your body will be overwhelmed just trying to process them. And if your body is hard at work metabolizing junk, it will have no energy left to fight your disease.

Give yourself the best chance of healing by drinking lots of pure water. Eat fresh, clean food, like raw fruits and vegetables as much as possible. While it may be good for many, I am not advocating becoming a raw vegan, just encouraging you to make it a habit of filling up half your plate with fresh vegetables during each meal.

Fresh vegetables contain crucial nutrients that help you heal. They also contain powerful enzymes to help you metabolize food putting less stress on your body. Less stress on your body leaves you with more energy for healing.

3. Clean Up Your Home

Home is where the heart is. But what happens if your home is in poor health? It’s not often we think of our homes as being unhealthy. Of course, it’s not like it will start sneezing or anything, but homes can get sick. And if your home is sick, it can become a barrier to your healing.

Having a healthy home is important to achieve optimal health. Energy in a healthy home promotes healing and rejuvenation.

There are so many ways to clean up your home. Take the time to straighten up and remove any clutter. Doesn’t it feel good to sit in a clean room? And when something feels good, your body has a better chance of dealing with your illness.

Take inventory of your cleaning supplies and replace the toxic ones with all natural cleaners. Do you clean with toxic cleansers that leave your house smelling like a chemical factory? That isn’t good for your healing process. If your body has to break down those toxins and process them, there will be fewer resources dedicated to eliminating your disease.

Start using natural cleansers and essential oils for cleaning. It isn’t hard, and you may be surprised how much better your home feels. And if it feels right, your body has a better chance of healing. Are you beginning to get the pattern here?

4. Clean Up Your Thoughts

When you have a disease, your body works overtime trying to eliminate whatever it is that is causing the disease. That is why you feel tired and may even feel exhausted. You need all the energy you can muster to help your body eliminate any disease.

Keeping your thoughts positive can have an enormous impact on your ability to heal. It’s normal to feel fear, sadness, and guilt when you first hear your diagnosis. But don’t let this overwhelm you. Negative thoughts hinder any attempt to heal right from the start.

If you find it hard to stay upbeat, start watching comedies! There’s a reason they say laughter is the best medicine. It’s good for healing, and it keeps your mind occupied with happy thoughts, not negative ones.

Another way to push the negative thoughts away is to come up with a mantra. A mantra is just a few words or a short phrase. If you prepare one ahead of time, you can pull it out whenever your thoughts take a negative turn. Any positive mantra will do. Two that come to my mind are “Peace, Love and Happiness” and “I am healthy, I am loved.”

Keep it simple, keep it positive. Use it whenever your thoughts start to turn negative. Your body will thank you for it.

5. Believe

Being in the right frame of mind has a significant impact on healing.

This one is crucial. I believe in the law of attraction. If you think healing thoughts, you will start to attract things that will help you heal. I don’t want to make it sound that simple because healing is serious business. But if you add this to your healing regimen, it becomes an important part of your healing journey.

Healing is multi-faceted. You need to look at it from many angles. Believing in your healing can have a significant impact.

Start envisioning your body whole again. Envision your body combating your illness and eliminating it. Imagine a healing light surrounding your body. These are practical ways of believing and will help your healing process.

Believing you can get better makes a world of difference on whether you begin to improve or continue to get worse. To help you along, I share some of my favorite inspirational healing quotes to help you keep the faith and gain confidence that you can do it.

6. Be Mindful Each Day

Being mindful means to remove your thoughts and think of nothing. If you find that difficult, think about your breathing as you inhale each breath. Studies have shown that being mindful has an enormous impact on your healing. It jump-starts your healing process. Let’s just say it keeps your mind out of the game and frees up your body to heal.

Meditating is another excellent way to heal. But studies show, that being mindful, which I find easier than meditating, is just as impactful as meditating. So, take time each day for yourself. Start thinking about nothing.

7. Surround Yourself With Healthy People

What this means is to surround yourself with individuals who are positive, who make you feel good, and who love you. If you have friends that make you feel bad or make you do things that are unhealthy, stop seeing them. They can be toxic to your health and can hinder your ability to heal.

If you work in an environment full of negative people, try working as far away from them as possible. If you can, quit and find a new job. But if you can’t, see if you can work part-time from home or move your desk away from anyone who is bringing you down with negativity.

Anything you can do to surround yourself with loving people who care about you and lift your spirits, is a positive step in the right direction for your healing process.

8. Get Outside And Exercise

Of course, any healing discussion isn’t complete without mentioning fresh air and exercise. Make it a habit to get in shape, lose those extra pounds, and increase your muscle mass. There is no better time than now, so don’t procrastinate. Think of all the health benefits of exercising and get your body moving.

One important thing to remember is that exercise increases your oxygen levels inside your body. The more oxygen you have floating around in your blood vessels, the better chance your body has to heal.

So what are you waiting for?
Take the time to incorporate these eight steps into your daily routine. Don’t wait! They will make you feel happier and more vibrant. And when you feel more energetic, you will feel healthier.
